Wanda Lavette Mills

Wanda LaVette Mills, 54, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at her home. She was born in Suffolk, Virginia, and was a proud graduate of Forest Glen High School, Class of 1989. She was preceded in death by her father, Larry D. Williams, Sr., and her mother, Cynthia L. Williams. Left to cherish her precious memories is her loving and devoted husband of 30 years, Matthew F. Mills; her mother-in-law, Elnora Motley of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina; two brothers, Larry Williams, Jr. (Vanessa) and Donnell Williams (Phyllis), both of Suffolk, Virginia; four sisters, Angel Hill (Mitchell) of Norfolk, Virginia, Tracay Williams of Portsmouth, Virginia, and Crystal Williams and Cynthia Williams, both of Chesapeake, Virginia; two brothers-in-law, Ervin Mills (Jennifer) of Greenville, North Carolina, and Jeffery Mills (Johnnell) of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina; one sister-in-law, Karla Brown of Maple Grove, Minnesota; a bonus sister and longtime friend, Elaine Murphy of Chesapeake, Virginia; and a host of loving nephews, nieces, cousins, and dear friends. Wanda was a dedicated employee of Huntington Ingalls Industries, Newport News Shipbuilding Division, where she faithfully served for 31 years. She was a proud graduate of The Apprentice School, where she trained as an outside machinist. Throughout her career, she also worked as a production controller and in the finance department. During her time at the Apprentice School, she excelled in athletics, running track, and cheerleading. She competed in the United States Corporate Athletic Association in the Regional and National Championship representing Newport News Shipbuilding and Tenneco. In addition to her professional career, Wanda was a successful entrepreneur. Alongside her husband, she co-owned and operated Three Dimensional Installation Company for 26 years. She was also a licensed realtor with Exit Realty, serving both Virginia and North Carolina, and the proprietor of Event Planagement Design. Wanda had a deep love for cooking, hospitality, and creating meaningful moments with family and friends. Above all, she was a woman of strong faith and a true believer in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Her warmth, strength, and love will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her
